Home - Journeys - Thailand and Laos 2020 - Thursday, March 26, 2020

We slept well with the family in Lat Krabang.

But then it doesn't go well at all. When Tom checks his e-mail, he sees that the flight to Amsterdam that we booked with KLM yesterday has been canceled due to entry restrictions in Thailand. But we don't want to enter Thailand, we just want to get out.
Later we read in other reports that Thailand is closed, except for Thai citizens with a health certificate and for a few other groups such as certain flight crews.

After coffee, to recover, Tom checks the KLM website. There are still flights there, but no longer 7 days a week, only on Saturdays and Mondays. For some reason, our canceled flight cannot be rebooked via the KLM site.
Pia goes with Moue to the market in Hua Ta Kee to do some shopping for the return trip to the Netherlands, after all we go back one day.
Tom is going to call KLM in Bangkok. After half an hour he finally manages to get into the queue. And after another 45 minutes of waiting he gets a friendly lady on the line, who speaks good English, unfortunately no Dutch. After explaining our problem, she has probably heard that story dozens of times, we can be rebooked to a flight on Monday April 6 at no extra cost. It just has to be so.

When Pia comes back from the market she luckily has something nice, she has bought fresh khilek. Khilek is a pretty bitter Thai vegetable, tree leaves actually, which become very tasty when cooked.

In the afternoon Kaeng and Moue, with our help, get a very heavy wooden table / bench from the top floor to the bottom floor. And two old sofas from the room where the TV is placed are thrown out.
This takes quite a few drops of sweat because it is hot, very hot, in Lat Krabang.
